Overview

Adrian is a central character in the JunkRats narrative. A survivor from The Underground and an active Runner, he later becomes the leader of the group known as the JunkRats.

Adrian participates in surface expeditions across The Surface, recovering supplies and materials from the ruins of the former city while encountering Forsaken creatures and other hazards present outside the crater settlement.

Background

Adrian was sixteen years old during The Collapse, when the spread of the Forsaken Virus led to the collapse of human civilization. Following the outbreak, he became one of the survivors living within The Underground, a settlement established inside a massive crater beneath the ruined city.

Life inside the Underground relied on strict resource control and organized scavenging operations. Citizens selected for the Runner program were sent to the surface to recover materials needed to sustain the settlement.

As Adrian gained experience operating outside the crater, he became familiar with the dangers of the ruined city, including unstable infrastructure and infected territory.

Story

Adrian is one of the central protagonists of the JunkRats campaign and the leader of the group later known as the JunkRats.

Adrian was raised in The Underground following the global collapse caused by the Forsaken Virus. As an adult he was selected for the Runner program, a system in which citizens were assigned to surface scavenging missions to recover scrap, technology, and other resources required to sustain the Underground settlement.

During his time operating on the surface, Adrian began secretly establishing a refuge in Dead Man’s Land. The location was an abandoned corner store several miles from the crater that he converted into a hidden safehouse between supply runs.

While working as a Runner, Adrian eventually formed a partnership with Lucy. The two began conducting surface expeditions together and later encountered Gabriel, a technician capable of bypassing sealed infrastructure and restoring electrical systems. Gabriel later joined the group and began maintaining the equipment and power systems inside the safehouse.

The group expanded further when they encountered Zariah, a survivor scavenging independently in the ruins who specialized in building and modifying weapons from scrap components. With her addition, the four began operating together regularly on the surface.

Over time the group began operating outside the authority of The Underground. Their activities included maintaining an independent shelter on the surface and diverting some recovered materials to sustain their safehouse.

These actions were eventually discovered by Underground scouts. Adrian, Lucy, Gabriel, and Zariah were arrested and charged with treason, including accusations of resource diversion and unauthorized operations outside Underground control.

The four were transported to an abandoned subway platform used for executions and prepared for immediate execution. Before the sentence could be carried out, a structural collapse caused by Forsaken growths destabilizing the surrounding tunnels destroyed part of the platform. The collapse killed the execution officer and allowed Adrian to free the others, enabling their escape to the surface and initiating the events of the JunkRats campaign.

Personality

Adrian is known for maintaining a calm and practical approach during dangerous situations. His experience operating on the surface has made him cautious, observant, and capable of making decisions under pressure.

Within the group, Adrian frequently assumes a leadership role, organizing movement during expeditions and directing the team's response to threats encountered outside the crater.

Relationships

Adrian regularly operates alongside several individuals:

Together they form the group later known as the JunkRats. Their relationship develops through repeated surface expeditions and their shared conflict with the authority of The Underground.
