Vince
Overview
Vince is the leader of The Underground, the survivor settlement located within the massive crater formed during early attempts to contain the spread of the Forsaken Virus after The Collapse.
He is one of the primary figures responsible for organizing the crater settlement and establishing the systems that allow the community to survive beneath the ruins of the former city.
Background
Following The Collapse and the rapid spread of the Forsaken Virus, large portions of the city became uninhabitable. Survivors fled into subway tunnels, service corridors, and maintenance routes beneath the city in an attempt to avoid the infected surface.
During this period, Vince and a small group of volunteers began mapping the underground transit routes in search of secure areas where survivors could regroup. While exploring deeper sections of the tunnel network, they eventually discovered the massive crater created by an early containment bombing.
The crater provided a defensible location separated from the heavily infected ruins above. Over time, survivors began settling within the area, forming what would later become known as The Underground.
Vince became one of the central figures responsible for organizing the growing settlement and coordinating its survival efforts.
Role in the Settlement
As the population within the crater increased, Vince assumed a leadership role in maintaining order and coordinating survival operations.
Under his leadership, the settlement established structured systems for resource management, security, and exploration of the surface. One of the most important systems created during this period was the formation of the Runners, individuals tasked with traveling to the The Surface to recover supplies, scrap, and technology from the abandoned city.
These expeditions became essential to sustaining life within the Underground.
Personality
Vince is generally portrayed as pragmatic and authoritative. The conditions following The Collapse required decisions that prioritized the long-term stability of the settlement.
While his leadership contributed to the survival of The Underground, some of the policies implemented under his authority have created tension with those assigned to perform the most dangerous tasks on the surface.
