Lore Overview
The JunkRats setting takes place after The Collapse, a global event caused by the spread of the Forsaken Virus.
Most human civilization was destroyed during the outbreak. The largest surviving population now lives inside a massive crater formed when part of a city collapsed during early attempts to stop the infection. Over time, survivors rebuilt within the crater and established a settlement known as The Underground.
The crater lies below the surrounding city streets but remains open to the sky. Buildings and infrastructure from the former city remain along its outer edges, while the settlement occupies the slopes and lower sections of the collapse zone.
